The Upside Down Show

I love the Upside Down Show. It is probably one of the smartest shows ever put on TV for kids. My Granddaughter LOVES this show. There is nothing better to listen to than a child’s belly laugh when they see something funny – Shane and David are funny.

Each episode begins with the brothers, or usually just Shane, in the middle of some activity. After greeting the audience, David introduces “The Remote” by pretending to be holding a remote control. He explains how The Remote can control the action on-screen by pressing various buttons and proceeds to control Shane’s actions. For example, “Fast Forward” causes Shane to move and speak fast, “Pause” causes him to freeze. In some episodes, David “discovers” an unseen button such as “Humongous” which causes some strange effect. David then offers to give The Remote to the viewer and then “hands it over” by reaching off-screen downward. The brothers direct the viewer to press the Play button, and Shane tries to request, “But whatever you do, don’t hit the (“upside-down, humongous, rotate, inside,” etc.) button.”, but the effect happens. My granddaughter still does boosh wah wah to knock on and open imaginary doors!

I have been searching the net to find a DVD set to no avail. Then I found a listing that reruns are are on 5:00 am on Noggin! Hooray! Yippie! Cool! So I’ve programmed the TVIO to record them.

Here’s the schedule for 7/20

Mon 7/20                8:00-8:30am                NOGGIN

Beach                        Shane becomes emotionally attached to a beach ball.
Mon 7/20                8:30-9:00am                NOGGIN

Marching Band        Shane and David invent imaginary musical instruments to join a marching band.
Mon 7/20                9:00-9:30am                NOGGIN

Birthday Party        Shane and David are invited to a surprise birthday party.
Mon 7/20                9:30-10:00am                NOGGIN

Picnic                        Shane and David take Fido the Fly on his first picnic.
Mon 7/20                10:00-10:30am                NOGGIN

Barbershop             Bob the Blanket helps when Shane does not want a haircut.
Mon 7/20                 10:30-11:00am                NOGGIN

The Upside Down show only got one season. I read on the web that Shane and David didn’t want to do a season 2 – that may or may not be true. It would be great if Noggin posted information about what happened to the show. It would answer a lot of questions.
