On Tuesday, at least 11 golf courses in Metro Detroit have set aside many of their tee times for the second annual “Free Day at the Links.”

The list of courses with free tee times include some of the top upscale public facilities in the area.

“We are honored to be a part of this program that gives back to the community with a day of free golf in this tough economy, and at the same time support the First Tee of Detroit,” said Paul Simpson, PGA head pro at Lyon Oaks in Lyon Township. “The First Tee not only teaches kids how to play golf, but also teaches them solid values and leadership skills.”

Walking any of the participating courses is free. For a minimum $20 donation, a cart is included. Proceeds benefit The First Tee of Detroit.

“We are just so grateful for the community support … that allows for free golf and also a great opportunity for us to raise money to support the kids of The First Tee of Detroit,” said Lisa Woodcox, executive director of First Tee of Detroit.

The First Tee conducts programming at 12 locations across Metro Detroit.The First Tee also operates The Belle Isle Golf Practice Center, which generates revenue for its youth programs.

Want to take the family to the King Tut exhibit at the Denver Art Museum?

In September, you can get a free child’s ticket for each adult ticket purchased to Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs.

The only catch? You have to live in the seven county metro area that is part of the SCFD, the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District. The counties are Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Douglas, Denver and Jefferson.

The King Tut exhibit features more than 100 objects spanning 2,000 years of ancient Egyptian history.

The Denver Art Museum is open Tuesday-Sunday at 10 a.m. The museum closes at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. It is open until 7 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays.

Tickets are $25 for adults on weekdays, $30 on weekends. Seniors and college students are $23 on weekdays, $30 weekends. Youth 6-17 years old are normally $16.50 for the exhibit and children 5 and under are free.

The Denver Art Museum is located on 13th Avenue between Broadway and Bannock Street address: 100 W 14th Ave. Parkway, Denver, CO 80204.

There is paid parking at the cultural complex garage at 12th Avenue and Broadway.

The exhibit also has a movie, “Egypt 3D: Secrets of the Mummies” and an audio tour narrated by Harrison Ford. The film and audio tour are an extra $5 each.
